The internet is full of videos of fights from the animal kingdom. Predators or reptiles are often the main characters of the show. However, how many times have you watched giraffe fight videos? Our guess is that the chances are pretty low and that’s why there’s a chance this clip of these two gentle giants fighting will leave you in awe.
Although old, the video reappeared after being posted on Twitter by IFS staff Sudha Ramen. A few years ago, it was shared on the YouTube channel of Kruger Sightings. The caption on the YouTube post explains that this rare and unusual sight was taken by 48-year-old Walter Becker.
Becker came across two giraffes grazing in a field when a bull entered the scene. Perhaps to assert its dominance or impress the females in the area, the animal began fighting one of the two giraffes. Both males, they use their necks to fight each other because “it is the most powerful and fearsome weapon” that animals have on their bodies.
The caption also explains that ‘Bite your neck into their world is the most violent and upsetting experience they can get into. These fights are serious, with giraffes repeatedly banging their necks against each other with the intention of causing actual injury. ”
