African Elephant || Giant elephant life in Africa

TVTV March 22, 2022

Explore the African wilderness and go on a virtual Safari to see amazing animals and birds. In this 3.5-hour wildlife video, you’ll enjoy the majesty of elephants, the largest of the Big Five. It’s great to see them up close. Adult elephants and baby elephants spend a lot of time near waterholes drinking water by squirting water into their mouths and mud on their bodies. They share waterholes with other wildlife such as hippos and birds. See breathtaking savanna landscapes and safari sounds in 4K.

The African elephant is the largest animal to walk on Earth. Their flocks roam through 37 countries in Africa. They are easily recognized by their trunks used to communicate and handle objects. And their large ears allow them to radiate excess heat. The maxillary incisors develop into tusks in African elephants and grow throughout their lives. There are two species of African elephants – the savanna (or forest elephant) and the wild elephant. Savanna elephants are larger than wild elephants and their tusks curl outward. In addition to being smaller, wild elephants are darker in color and their tusks are straighter and point downward. There are also differences in the size and shape of skulls and skeletons between the two species.

Forest elephants are particularly adapted to the jungle habitats of the Congo Basin, but are in sharp decline due to poaching for the international ivory trade and habitat loss and fragmentation. It is estimated that perhaps one-quarter to one-third of all African elephants are wild elephants.
